01. About Middle Sea
What is an insurance broker?
An insurance broker is an independent professional intermediary who acts on the insured's behalf to analyze their risks, compare options in the market, place the most suitable coverage, and support them throughout the life of the policy — including claims management. Unlike an agent who represents a single insurer, a broker works for the client and can quote across multiple companies without being tied to any one of them.
Is Middle Sea an insurance company?
No. Middle Sea is not an insurer. We're a broker. At Middle Sea we manage, advise and act as intermediary, but the policy is issued — and the risk assumed — by an insurance company authorized by the Superintendencia de Seguros de la Nación. This distinction matters: if you have a question about your premium or coverage terms, those are set by the insurer. We're here to help you understand what you have and how to exercise your rights.
Does Middle Sea choose which insurer applies to me?
For insurance tied to lien-secured loans (savings plans, lenders, banks), it's the lienholder — the automaker, the lender or the bank — who sets the general terms of the insurance, including which insurers are available. Within that framework, Middle Sea administers the operation according to those terms. For our direct corporate clients, we do analyze the market and recommend the best option available.
How long has Middle Sea been in business?
Since 1996. In 2026 we celebrate 30 years in the Argentine market. We're a 100% Argentine company, with local shareholders and operations entirely based in the country.
02. Policies, coverage and lien-secured loans
I took out a loan or savings plan to buy a car. Why do I have insurance through Middle Sea?
When you acquire a vehicle through a savings plan, a lender or a bank, the vehicle is pledged as collateral for the loan. Argentine regulation requires that vehicle to remain insured for the full term of the loan. The lienholder — whoever granted your loan — sets the terms of that coverage and works with an insurance broker to administer it. In many cases, that broker is Middle Sea. That's why we appear on your policy: because the institution that financed your vehicle chose to work with Middle Sea.
Can I choose different coverage or switch insurers?
Yes, you can switch coverage and/or insurers without restriction among the coverage options and insurers included in the approved panel. The ability to switch to an insurer outside that panel depends on the terms set by the lienholder (the bank, the lender or the savings plan). In many cases, those terms are part of the loan agreement and can't be changed unilaterally. If you'd like to explore that option, the first step is to check directly with whoever granted your loan. Middle Sea doesn't have the authority to waive that condition — that decision rests with the lienholder.
Can I manage my own insurance?
If your insurance is tied to a lien-secured loan, whether you can manage it independently depends on what the loan agreement and the lienholder establish. To find out, check directly with the institution that financed your vehicle. In every case, Middle Sea is available to guide you and explain what options apply to your specific situation.
How is the price of my insurance determined?
The policy price (premium) is set by the insurer issuing the coverage — not by Middle Sea. Insurers calculate the premium based on multiple variables: vehicle type, geographic area, policyholder profile, coverage level, among others. As a broker, Middle Sea can present the options available within the terms set by the lienholder. If you'd like to better understand how your premium is calculated, please contact us and we'll walk you through it.
What happens if my insurance lapsed or I didn't pay?
If the policy lapsed or was cancelled for non-payment, the vehicle may be left without coverage — which is a breach of your loan terms. We recommend contacting us as soon as possible to resolve the situation and avoid contractual consequences with your lienholder.
03. Claims
I had an accident or a claim. What do I do?
The first step is to file the claim as soon as possible. You can do this through Middle Sea's contact channels, and we'll guide you through the entire process. If you already filed the claim directly with the insurer, you can also reach out to our claims team with any questions.
Does Middle Sea settle the claim?
Middle Sea manages and supports the process, but the claim settlement — that is, the decision on what's covered and for how much — is the insurer's responsibility. Our role is to act as your intermediary: helping you submit the right documentation, following up, and representing your interests with the company if any discrepancy arises.
How long does it take to settle a claim?
Timing depends on the complexity of the case and the insurer involved. At Middle Sea, we work to speed up the process and make sure no step goes unfollowed. If you feel your case isn't moving forward, contact us directly so we can step in.
